Young's Nurseries, Inc. was founded in 1936 by John and David Young as a small retail and landscape operation. Later joined by Philip T. Young, it became the premier nursery and landscape company of Fairfield County. In the 1970's the business was sold to Paul Young, Hans Kuring, and James Fox . They continued the operation at 211 Danbury Road which is now considered an institution by both home gardeners and professional landscapers. In 1988, fifty-four acres of land were purchased in Woodbury, Connecticut for the purpose of growing more of our own trees and shrubs because of the demand for larger and higher quality plant material. We also have a garden center and a landscape service operation at this location.
On June 1,1997, Young's Nurseries, Inc. was sold to five long time employees: Tom Daily, Scott Deniston, Dave Gindek, Thomas Kuring, and Tad Sanford. Paul Young and Jim Fox are now retired, while Hans Kuring continues to be employed as chief grower at the Woodbury nursery.
